Sort of off topic/rant
So I'm having issues with work. I was promoted 3 months ago, but since starting my boss won't let me do my job. It seems as though she never really wanted to hire someone, and I'm not sure why she did-- she insists on handling everything herself. I have 15 years experience in this work (vs her 1.5 years) and can do this with my eyes closed. I'm a high level manager who's basically functioning as a clerk at the moment. I don't feel effective, or that I'm adding value. It's driving me insane. I'm meeting with her boss next week to try and explain how things are going from my perspective, and see if he'll intervene. I'm already looking for a new job cause this one sucks!
This has been stressing me out horribly, so I see snacking habits creeping back in. An (1) Oreo after work has become a coping mechanism. An extra cheese stick here or there. It's 'only one', but it's just not good practice. I can't let my work dictate how l fuel my body! And who knows how long I'll be in this scenario with work... I've worked too hard with WLS to let work undo it.
I stepped on the scale to see if I could obsess about something other than work... Of course it shows a 2.2# gain. Ugh! I do have a period now, but that's never caused me to gain before. Well I'm stepping away from the snacks without a doubt. Guess I'll use all the extra time at work to menu plan so I have the right foods on hand.
I will not let some self absorbed, power hungry, egotistical boss get me off track another minute!!

Thanks. I do exercise, and am happy with what I'm doing (jogging and circuit training). Adding something else won't fit into the schedule at the moment.
I should find a good book to read, I NEVER read, it's another good way to get lost in something other than my thoughts.

I'm sorry you're going through this at work. Books are indeed a great way to escape into another reality when you need a break from one. What genre of books do you like to read? I'd be happy to recommend some if I know of any that fit your taste. *nods*

My two most recent books were nonfiction and I enjoyed them immensely!
The first was Mozart in the Jungle - If you were ever a music geek, this is quite an interesting read.
The other is Felicia Day's You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost): A Memoir - was touching, because she talked about subjects I didn't expect but felt like it spoke to me directly (anxiety).
You might not enjoy them, but think of someone whom inspires you and consider reading either their biography or something they wrote!

I would recommend any book by eiyher John Steinbeck or Ernest Hemingway, then- Great American fiction. In The Winter of Our Discontent is my favorite Steinbeck.

When the back-to-school rush settles down, how about a book sharing thread, in honor of back to school? I will start one, if I still have a brain next week.
If I let idiot bosses make me eat, I'd be 2,000 pounds by now. Bosses can make you do all kinds of stupid things, but they can't putt the food in your mouth. You're better than that. Show them who you really are.
