Sip sip sip. Keep a glass with you always and sip. It will get easier. And warm broth sometimes goes down easier.

Keep a water bottle with you at all times even on your night stand.  Sip every 5-10 mins all day and if you get up at night take a few sips also.  That is what I did for the first week or so.  Take things slow and before you know it you will be getting 80+oz a day.  It does get better.

Experiment with different temperatures also.  Some do better with cold water and other with warm.

Congrats on the surgery! Mine was the 10th. My pain level is good, but I didn't have my gallbladder taken out either.

I agree with everyone who says to experiment with temperature. When I came home I needed everything icy cold in order to get my water down. Suddenly last week, I can no longer tolerate cold--has to be warm or room temp. Go figure.

Hope you start feeling better soon. It's seems impossible, but as hard as drinking is, it's what will keep you feeling well.

Congrats. I celebrated my one year surgiversary on the 11th. Maybe try crushed ice if you haven't tried that yet. Hope you experience a smooth recovery.
