6 years out
I had RNY surgery in March 2009. I am 5'6 1/2" and 157 lbs and am in a normal weight range. I now eat a normal portion of food for a light adult eater. I remember the days of 3 bites then stuffed. lol My advise to anyone who is considering surgery is to do lots of research. Read here often. To those *****cently had surgery, please follow the rules your surgeon has given you. I truly believe that is what helped me achieve long term success. It is SOOOO worth it! My quality of life is so much better now. Hugs and lots of love to all of my fellow RNY'ers!!!
Thanks for posting and congratulations! I just clicked on your profile and read your story and blog and I found great inspiration and comfort in your story. I am around the 5 week mark and I only lost 1 lb this week. I am so bummed!!!!!! I too have PCOS and am afraid it will stop me from ultimately losing the weight! I looked at your weight loss from week to week and you too stalled at week 5, it gave me so much comfort!! Bravo by the way for typing that all out, it really helps a person like me who is going crazy over a one pound loss so early in the process.
Anyway thanks for your post and your story, you have helped this girl on this day!
Blessings...
Cynthia we're right on the same timeline - my RNY was July '09.
Your advice is so true. Especially the research ahead of time! I read everything I could find!
Like you, I can eat pretty "normally" now. I do enjoy eating (and remember when I wasn't sure I'd ever eat a normal meal again) but have learned to listen to my body's signals and know when to stop.
Best wishes to you for continued success-ing!
