PatchMD is Bunk

Thanks for the blessing!  And bless your heart for not understanding what I am saying!

If we were speaking purely mass, you would be absolutely right!  But we are not.  You see, the poster is only speaking of weight.  (remember, that is the effect of gravity on an item.  not mass.)  Weight is determined on the gravitational pull on an object, and that pull is affected in part by the density of an object.  He has looked at the ingredient list and read those numbers on the list and equated them to weight, again...not mass.  (both of those things are not the same)  So when he then weighs the patch itself and finds that it weighs LESS than the listed amount on the ingredients list we are no longer including mass in the picture.  His simple question of "How does it not add up to the same weight" ONLY looks at the weight.

My answer in the beginning was that maybe as they are preparing it for the patch they add or take away and states change in the process and maybe the weights change.  This is a broad quick answer early in all of our research into this whole issue.  But it has now brought up the question of the difference of mass vs weight, and if its the same or if it can change.

You proved my point precisely when you said "unless you move to space or the moon".  If a change of environment (or state when on this planet) can change the number of one part of the equation then it is most definitely not always the same!

1 fluid ounce of water gas does not have the same weight as 1 fluid ounce of water fluid or water solid because the density is less with the molecules being further spread out.

If we are purely speaking of the issue the original poster has with the product then we are speaking purely on the weight of the item.  Not the mass.  If we want to talk about the molecular mass of each compound and element that is a different subject.

I've invented a device that creates a small field which alters the gravitational constant of the universe. It will allow me to weigh whatever I like when I step on the doctor's scale. But the power source is still too large. I have to wait for battery technology to catch up before I can put it into production.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I have to say, I was really amused with your "google science lesson" given to the Hala, the physicist. PHYSICIST!  Jeezus.

Oh, don't misunderstand.  Not giving her a science lesson.  I would not EVER question someone's education or profession, and was merely referencing where I was getting the quote.  I would not be so crass as to treat someone that way.

(I'm a writer and a ghost blogger.  Its bred into me to leave a trail for all quotes)

Well, then it is also bred into you to skim information and quote things not necessarily in context (as a writer and ghost blogger).

Anyway. Amusing conversation all 'round.

Wow, I don't know who you know but it sounds like you have a sour viewpoint of writers and bloggers.  I'm sorry to hear that.  I would hope since I have clarified your first attempt to discredit me you would have seen that I am not coming at this, like others, in the name of anger or malice.  I am not sure why you would want to continue to discredit me further, but I am used to attacks.  I am fat, as it were.  I have been dealing with that all my life.

Its sad when discussion turns to choosing sides and ganging up.  Seems like human nature.  If you feel I am misrepresenting what is going on here, you are most likely part of the issue.  I do not look down on people acting in this fashion.  On the contrary I hope to snap them out of it, help them to realize how they have attempted to hurt others, and extend of olive branch of forgiveness so that we can move past it.

OP, I will let you know if I hear anything else from the company as I have sent more emails to them.  Hopefully we will get a full and complete answer as to what exactly the patches contain and an answer as to how exactly they nanotech the reduction of the vitamins.  As for this particular thread, I'm done.  Peace!

I think you have way overanalyzed my comment, your assumption that I am trying to discredit you is incorrect, and the insinuation that I am somehow "attacking" you is ludicrous. I merely commented, and then responded, to your comments on a public message board. No need for the "I'm fat and used to being abused" attitude with me - we're both strong women, it's not gonna fly and I'm pretty sure you know that already.

Also, as this is an adult discussion (I thought it was at least) there is no reason to be rude or condescending and I would like to bring it back to a respectful tone.  If that is ok with you then lets continue this discussion.  Otherwise I really don't need false blessings.  I really enjoy non emotional debates and discussions but that sort of stuff is really rude and uncalled for.

I am really interested in this whole topic.  I have been following Lora's posts about her labs, and I have been very eager to start the calcium one--was just waiting for my physical and blood draw for a pre-patch baseline.  So, yesterday I had my annual physical (plus labs) with my PCP, and I asked him about the patch vitamins.  He said they are a good idea, and that there is a lot of online hype about them, including pseudo-research, but that so far, there really is no real scientific evidence--no respected scientific studies--he said if I was really concerned about my nutrition, I should avoid them for the time being.  :-(
