Questions about RNY and Sleeve

Can you have a gastric sleeve if you've had RNY or can you only have a revision to RNY?

I'm just chiming in because I haven't seen anyone reply yet.

I believe the most common RNY revision is tightening the pouch or converting to a DS.

I don't believe it's mechanically possible to switch to a regular VSG since I have not seen it in all of the revision information/research I have looked at.

Yes, it is possible. If someone can "convert" to a DS, they can definitely convert to a sleeve - since the sleeve is part of the DS.

Yes you can. But you would need a really skilled surgeon.

Thank you all for your help.  I had RNY over 10 years ago and this site helped me greatly when I was deciding.  I'm having a problem with Afib and also absorption and I've also gained some of the weight back.  My cousin has had the sleeve within the last year and she's had no problems with absorption.

When I had my RNY the sleeve was just beginning to be done so I was curious as to the possibility of having it switched over.  I was curious and I knew someone here would have either good insight or experience/advice on having it done.

Thanks again for all of your responses....................I love this sight even thought I don't post alot I do read and learn.

I do know one woman *****vised her RNY to a sleeve, so yes it can be done. It is a very complicated surgery, however, as it involves first taking down the RNY and reattaching things where they belong, and then cutting away the stomach to create the sleeve. She was hoping to revise to a DS and this was the first step, "switch" to follow at a later date.
