Happy Tuesday all,

If you are eating every 3 hours, how do you factor in liquids and waiting the half hour? I can't grasp it.

I am out 16 months, and trying to figure it out

I drink liquids until I am ready to eat.maybe stop for 5-10 min. The liquids runs out of the pouch rather fast, as long as there is mo more food left in it from previous meal. .

I also take no longer than 30 min to eat my meal. then wait 30-60 min, and start drinking my liquids.

if I am low on liquids - I may chose protein shakes instead of a snack - to hydrate more.

Some patients don't drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after eating, but I don't wait the 30 minutes before.  I will drin****il I'm ready to eat, but I never drink for at least 30 minutes after I eat.  It is actually painful for me to even sip while eating or to drink right after eating.

I always have water handy and drink it between the times I eat.

Also- I  make sure I am drinking 10-12oz of water during the drinking times so that by the end of the day I have had my 64oz of water.

To help fight constipation issues, I drink over one-third of my water requirements first thing in the morning by mixing one capful of Miralax in a large glass of warm water.  I can finish  it effortlessly because I wake up thirsty.  Waiting 30 minutes after eating has become automatic and the required 64 ounces easily attainable by days end.

I am six months post-op yesterday.  I drink 150-200 oz/day.  I drink up until the time I eat.  I usually wait 30-45min, then I star****er intake again.  I fortunately am able to drink a lot rapidly without problems.  I found out about "water-loading"using the search engine on this site.  I have developed low b/p and BS ainc

I remember the "no drinking 30 min before or after a meal or snack"  as one of the most difficult things to deal with.  After being here for a while, I realized that I could modify my surgeon's plan to be able to drink up until I eat since the liquids go through our pouch so quickly.  the 30 min. after is still ironclad.  It gets easier to drink larger amounts as time goes on.  At first there is a lot of swelling.
