What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
Happy Hump Day! It's beautiful here in CNY today; too bad I'm stuck indoors. My son is at camp this week, and I do believe I'd like to be at camp as well. But, you know, I have a mortgage and all so I can't really just up and leave. But I want to; here's where he is: Lourdes Camp It's pretty freaking amazing. *le sigh* I never did any of that kind of **** when I was a kid. My mom kicked me out in the morning and pretty much let me fend for myself until dinnertime. LOL There was a pool down the street and a lot of my friends lived in the neighborhood, but still. I wasn't going canoeing or shooting arrows. LOL
Which leads me to Kristen's Question of the Day!! Did you attend camp in the summer? Was anyone here a camp counselor? Spill.

Good morning,
Never did camp, never did organized sports, I too was told to play outside, luckily there were lots of neighborhood kids, big backyards, and playground nearby. We rode bikes all day, played basketball, wiffle ball, kickball, red rover, hide and seek, badminton or volleyball. We cooled off with the hose or sprinkler and occasionally went swimming in the one neighborhood pool, made forts, put on plays and skits and basically had a great late 1960's childhood.
My kids had a great neighborhood too with big backyards and lots of pools in the neighborhood. But they both also got to do organized sports and swimming lessons at the Y and the town pool. My older daughter did Day Camp with the Y for a couple of years when I was working. My younger daughter never did, One or the other of us was always home in the summer when she was younger.

I did Girl's Camp for a week with our church--lots of hiking and river activities. I hated it and only went three of the five years I could. I much preferred running around with my friends at home.

Good Morning! Great morning weather here today too and should be warm this afternoon but not over 100 (which for this time of year anytime we are below 100 there isn't much to complain about) and thankfully the humidity has minimized. A ton of my daughter's classmates are at camp this week too, she might decide to go next year so we'll see. She will be heading to 6th grade camp right when they go back to school so we will see how that goes. That camp looks awesome-hope he is having a blast. I never went to summer camp, we did camp at the lake as a family for 2 weeks each summer though. Now that I look back at it-how did we bathe in the lake for 2 whole weeks?!?!?!

Good morning everyone! It is seriously beautiful here too. I soooo want to be outside. I've considered taking my laptop out onto the Library's patio, but that seems like it would be super distracting so I'm being an adult and staying inside, much to my sadness.
I did go to camp as a kid - but not like the whole summer or anything. Most years I went to a week of sleep away church camp and Girl Scout Day Camp (which I think ended with a one night sleep over). I always loved camp! And yes, I was a counselor one or two years at church camp - which is sort of funny to think about now as I'm not religious at all.
This morning I worked out with a trainer for the second time and yesh, I'm already feeling it! We spent a lot of time on core and back and my low back is already sore. When I was with DCgirl for the 4th we worked out like crazy and WOW she's totally in better shape than me, which is partially due to her working out with a trainer and really knowing what she's doing (also she's way more dedicated than I am). Anyway, it inspired me to get the nerve up to try a trainer myself and I'm loving it! We started out with a circuit of strength and cardio, then did a bunch of resistance training, and ended with core. Ugh! My core is soooooo weak. I told the trainer that when we met for the first time and that I always use the excuse that "I just had major abdominal surgery" but then I remember that was more than a year ago....so she's kicking my ass when it comes to core!

I LOVED SUMMER CAMP AS A CHILD! I started when I was 9 going to Bible camp, then Basketball camps, science camps, even duck conservation camp. I loved getting away from my hometown and meeting new people. I ended up going to boarding school for high school which always felt like a 9 month summer camp. How I loved my high school! We send our kids to lots of day camps (horseback riding, cooking camp, adventure day camp, lacrosse camp, robotics and coding) and they love every minute. They also enjoy roaming around the neighborhood with their friends so we plan a couple of weeks of that too. To be young again...

Costco Chicken Salad... they have two types the little cranberry cups made with greek yogurt. they are great and portion controlled, .. but the best is their own...made with Rotisserie Chicken. Yum-O. I do love their Mango Salsa - great baked on chicken with or without a little cheese melted on Or added to a saute of peppers, onion and Chicken. They have this bottle of TonTon (I think) Ginger dressing that makes a fabulous marinade for chicken or steak. I add a little of the thick Teriyaki (the kind with sesame) sauce to it... yes that has sugar, but the amount that is actually going in your food is so minimal. I like the pre-made Tzaziki dip/sauce with grilled chicken. At the Holidays I bought a lot of the trays they have for an appetizer of mozzarella wrapped in prosuitto, salami,pepperoni... they look like logs. Great protein forward offering to bring to parties... my other offering to bring is the cold shrimp ****tail tray/rings. Another protein forward option.
