Protein snacks!?!?
So, I spoke with my NUT about my labs, metformin script, and what I should be doing to stop any hormone related weight gain.
She pretty much said " Do what I am doing" EXCEPT switch my snack to a protein snack.
Despite canned tuna/chicken, pepperoni, and jerky, what other protein snacks exist?

Hard boiled eggs. You can buy them in the deli section of the grocery store, already boiled and peeled. Boiled shrimp, Moon Cheese, protein bars, are also options.

Hi, Skinny! Happy Monday,
What about nuts. Almonds? Cashews?
Also: Boiled eggs, cottage cheese. Other ideas below.
You can also make/buy grilled chicken breasts. Cut in strips after grilling and have them in the refrigerator as snacks.
Cheese is great because there are so many options. You do have to check the protein content, as some cheeses have lower protein than others. I really like smoked Gouda...flavorful and such a treat. I do not worry about the fat content with cheeses, because we eat so few calories anyway, and it is milk fat, which does not seem to be considered a problem in recent reading.
Deli meats, in little rolls--another great option. Deli turkey wrapped around a dill pickle!
What about a high quality hot dog? (I like the Hebrew National brand...they even have a good low fat version if you are concerned about that). Hot dog with spicy mustard! I do not do a lot of hot dogs because of the processed issue, but it think a good quality hot dog or sausage can be a nice option for variety.
What about a warm cup of beef broth? Or unsweetened soy milk? Silk organic is a good unsweetened soy, IMO. You could add your vanilla flavoring, etc.
Is refrigeration an issue? I send all of this stuff with my kids for sack lunches during school months. They are ok unrefrigerated for a few hours (like, 3-4 hours). You could also pack a tiny cooler. Or, for short periods of time, and if I need a disposable option, I will pack a doubled brown paper bag(s) with the snacks, and include a plastic bag (doubled) with ice cubes.
These are awesome. I didnt think of cottage cheese. I am already doing nuts but for whatever reason they dont hold me.
The high quality hotdog is a great idea....and so it the beef broth!
Refridgeration is not an issue. :) Just need to be edible at work
