Another vitamin question...
Have any of you tried the patch multivitamin or B12 that are endorsed by this website? How did you do on your blood work after?
Most multivitamins have upset my stomach my whole life. I vary rarely take them. During my pregnancies I couldn't even take prenatals without vomiting no matter when I took it or the type. Instead I made large shakes with lots of fruits/veggies and some liquid vitamins to supplement- something not likely to work after I have my surgery.
I don't know if I will have the same issues after surgery since I know what my pouch can handle will be much different than what my stomach could, but I am scared I might. I am trying varous types now to try and see what I can stomach since I know it will be critical to my health to supplement after surgery.
Long story short- these patches are vary appealing to me if they actually work. Anyone have any experiences good or bad with them?

I don't know which ones you're talking about, but I use patchmd's multi vitamin patch daily. I feel fine. I don't get bloodwor****il 6 months, so I'm not sure if they're "working," but I would think I would feel bad if they weren't. My surgeon had never heard of them and he is on the fence about them until my bloodwork, but he is curious. My brother had surgery elsewhere, and his team recommended them because of his malabsorption (he's a VSG revised to DS). He's been on them since April with no problems at all. I'm sure someone else will come in that has more knowledge and experience (i'd like to know, also!) But so far, so good for me! Also, you can Google and find coupon codes for them.
I also take ferocon orally daily for iron.
Just a caveat: at only 6 months out from surgery, you cannot really know how well the patches are working because it takes longer than that for many of the vitamin levels to drop (and for some of the vitamins that your body stores, you may still be utilizinf vitamins stored from before surgery). MANY people need to adjust vitamin doses at 6 months out. Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of the patches is that if you need more of a couple of different vitamins because of low levels, you are still going to have to supplement.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not against the patches. I actually have been on the multivitamin one for several months myself and am waiting for results of my labs last week. I just wanted to warn you that you are in a special cir****tance since you are freshly post-op. Hopefully, your surgeon is also aware that you are still operating off of some stored vitamins as well...

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I have been using the multivitamin patch for several months and am waiting on results from the blood I had drawn in Wednesday afternoon.
Unfortunately, if your stomach is already sensitive vitamins, it is probably only going to get worse after surgery. Many people who were never sensitive to vitamins before find themselves sensitive after WLS.
There are a number of us who have recently started using the patches, but I have only seen one post from someone who has had bloodwork (but I cannot remember now what patch(es) she was using or for how long).
I will post my results when I get them.
