Foot pain like gout?
When I was losing I developed plantar fasciitis and it was awful. I ended up seeing a podiatrist who explained that our weight loss can rapidly alter the forces and loads our feet had slowly become accustomed to. It's kind of ironic that lessening the burden placed on our feet can cause problems simply because it's different and too quick.
Took a few months to resolve and, I repeat, awful.
Now that's probably not what's going on with you so soon after surgery. It's probably not connected at all but it's something to be aware of as you continue your journey.
In addition to the foot problems Chulbert mentioned, we can have serious balance issues for a while too, as well as odd joint pain, etc. Our bodies change really fast, and it takes a while to reach a new equilibrium. It ends up being a lot better in the end.

Wow, I can totally relate. I've always been top heavy (boobs) and now that my bottom half is getting smaller, I've been losing my balance. Everyone thinks it's funny, but now I can put two and two together. I've been standing and go to shift my weight and I tip over like a stinkin bowling pin. I don't fall, but my balance has been a little off. It's good to know it's just an equilibrium issue and I'm not a complete klutz.
It goes away, but it can take a while. Just be careful in the meantime.
If I wasn't paying attention, I would even walk crooked sometimes.

I have gout. It started flaring last Oct. and has never totally cleared up since. That is one of the motivating factors for me having bypass surgery ( my surgery will be in late Sept. of this year). Gout is often, altho not always, related to obesity and will clear up once the excess weight is gone. HOWEVER - from everything I've read about gout, and according to what my Doc has told me, large amounts of weight lost suddenly can push a person into flares and they will continue for awhile until all the uric acid is cleared from your body. So it is not unusual to have flares while losing. Gout pain can be excruciating and I am hoping I don't experience that when I start losing after surgery, however there are medications you can take to help with the pain and calm the flares - if your pain continues I would bring it up with your Doc and see what can be done to help you through. Good luck!

I agree that it sounds like plantar fasciitis. I had it before surgery, and fixed it by wearing arch supports (Walmart or amazon sells them) and also sleeping in a night boot made for it. Not the most comfortable way to sleep, but it stretched whatever gets tight and causes the pain. About 2 weeks and I was fixed after having the pain ****reated) for almost a year. I still try to wear the arch supports if I'm doing a lot of walking or anything just so it doesn't come back. Good luck!
