Post op diet with special needs-thoughts?
I love falafel balls with a yogurt dressing on them, there are Morningstar breakfast sausages that have 9 proteins for 2 small links. If you eat eggs in things I can't say enough awesome about Eggfaces ricotta back
I'm not a vegetarian, but enjoy discovering great tasting, non-meat protein options. So far, here are a few of my favorite things:
- Sweet Earth Chipotle Seitan (30 grams protein/4 oz serving)
- Morningstar Farms Black Bean Burgers (17 grams protein/patty)
- Beyond Meat - Beyond Chicken (20 grams protein/3 oz serving)
- Beyond Meat - Beyond Beef (13 grams protein/4 oz serving)
- Hodosoy Sesame Yuba Noodles (17 grams protein/3 oz serving)
Good luck!
Hi-I am a vegetarian and I do not eat eggs. I will be revising to RNY in a few weeks, so I am open to everyone’s thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else out there is a vegetarian and how you balance your food post op. My dietician feels I will have to rely on protein shakes a lot for the rest of my life. Thoughts?
Dr Garth Davis is a vegan WL surgeon. He has a TON of info on his Facebook page FYI.
Hi - I am a vegetarian too. I haven't had my surgery yet - I am also going to be a revision from failed lap band (removed a few years ago) to RNY. The dietician at the program I go to gave me a lot of printed info on eating right as a veg after surgery. I was actually vegan for many years but at the concern and suggestion of my surgeon I have added back some dairy (cottage cheese and some cheeses) and eggs in order to be sure to get enough protein in. I have a hard time losing weight - the only thing that has ever worked for me is eating low carb. As you know that can be challenging a vegan or vegetarian, so at least for now and in the early stages post op I'll continue with the eggs and cheese. I actually hope eventually to go back to a vegan diet - but that's after i've learned the ropes and am really comfortable that I can get in all my nutrient needs eating that way. I am open to the idea that I may have to use protein shakes long term and I'm OK with that. Good luck to you!
