In the beginning...
were you able to actually eat 3 meals AND 2 snacks?
I am seven weeks post surgery and I am simply not able to fit snacks into my meal plan right now. Between having to wait 1/2 an hour to drink, getting in all my water and my vitamins, I'm not sure I could actually fit this into my day. The biggest part is that I'm not hungry. I'm getting all my proteins and other good stuff. Will snacks get easier a little further down the line?
Thanks!

As long as you are taking your vitamins, getting all your fluids, and protein, I wouldn't worry too much about between meal snacks. Many people have plans from their surgeons that do not include between meal snacks. Your protein shakes count as a snack and fluids! Double bonus!
It will gets easier, and sometimes it gets TOO EASY to snack. Count your blessings!
Initially didnt have snacks in my plan UNTIL I almost started fainting in tae bo/cardio kick box. That class happened at 5 pm, lunch was at noon..and dinner wasnt well until 8.30 pm.
So the surgeon altered his plan so I would have a little something before I worked out.

I don't differentiate the meals from the snacks, but I usually have 5-6 small, planned meals a day, and I have since I was on mushies. A "meal" might be 1/3 cup of cottage cheese though.
Sorry I can't help with your situation, but when I was first post-op, I'd read posts like this and think there was something wrong with me for having no problem meeting my protein goals and feeling hungry when it was mealtime, so I'm posting mainly for the benefit of anyone else who may read your post and think they're abnormal for NOT having the same problem. It seems like the first couple months post-op are where people can have the biggest variation in tolerances and nutritional needs.
I'm with Fur. I am/ was the opposite- however I fill quickly. I will say that my surgeon always just said to do what you can. Since you're meeting your goals that's not even the issue. Count your blessings and keep moving forward!

Early out I was eating five to six times a day, but it was keeping me from getting in enough fluids. Also, eating in the morning doesn't agree with me. Eventually I learned that I do best having half a protein shake for breakfast, an early lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, and an evening snack. Most days I could do without the evening snack but I force myself to eat it in order to meet my protein goal. You just have to figure out what works best for you and get into a routine. Nutritionists develop the same recommendations for all of their patients, but the same thing doesn't work for everyone.
