4 years out, dumping immediately after eating a tiny amount of sugar?
The more technical term for dumping is rapid gastric emptying. So yes, it can happen fast.

Although it doesn't normally happen quite so quickly (15 minutes seems to be a common general timeframe that people report), it can happen very quickly, especially if you drink something afterward (which washes the sugar down into the intestine more quickly).
In my experience, when people report almost immediate dumping it usually involves a liquid with sugar in it (fruit juice with added sugar, or a soda or iced tea that was supposed to be a diet one but wasn't).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Yup! The good stuff will get you there in a hurry. Caffeine, sugar, and butter... yum but could get you sooner or later... you're quick. RNY... if you know that you are either negative or positive for H. pylori... be carful... ulcer(s) could pop up unannounced, since the bacteria lives where it wants in our gut and could rev its head any time any where. Take care and hope you are feeling better.
I was just reading an article that was saying there are two types of dumping --- the quick kind that happens immediately to with in a half hour or so, or a kind that happens several hours later...
