bike riding
The past few weeks I have been thinking about buying a crusier bike to start riding for my daily exercise. I've gotten quite bored with walking and cant afford a gym membership just yet. I'm a broke college kid lol. Any who back to the subject... Have any of yall enjoyed bike riding, seen results from riding or have any tips in general?
Happy 4th of July!

Bike riding has become my favorite form of exercise! I'm lucky enough to live right next to a long bike path along the Columbia River. I have a Giant Liv Cypress DX W cruiser style bike. I signed up for the ADA's Tour de Cure (doing the 29-mile course) later this month, and it's been awesome to see my endurance improve as I do longer and longer rides. I hope to start bike commuting to work soon too.
I haven't had my RNY yet, but I have a recumbent stationary bike I started riding in June. I'm working my way up and almost to 5 miles a day. And I was NOT active before. I would check the craigslists/facebook yard sale pages- I bet you could get a good price on a used one. also if you have the space inside, you could get that attachment to ride the outdoor bike indoors on bad days.
I think it will be fun to do it outside once I get a bit smaller to be comfortable.

Biking is great, and it is fun! You can do it at a leisurely pace, or at a racing pace.
Before buying the cruiser, you might consider/compare getting a bike type called a "commuter bike" or "crossover bike." This puts you up a little higher than a cruiser, which I like for power. But you are not bent over the handlebars like you would on a full road bike. The crossover/commuter bike usually has more hardy tires than a road bike, so although it is not a mountain bike, you could ride on off-road trails, or cut across grass, for example. But it is still very efficient--more aerodynamic like a road bike but with some hardiness built in.
