I just can't hit my goals

I don't know what to do.   I have tried really hard.   I'm eating ONLY protein foods and I still can't get enough protein in to hit my goals.   I can barely get 1.5 to 2 ounces of food in.   I'mlucky if I hit 25 to 30 grams of protein.  And I definitely can't hit my water goals.   I'm hitting my limit about 40 ounces.

I am traveling and I get back tonight.   I'm going to do protein shakes to help increase but I don't want to live a life of protein shakes.   There has to be something I can do.

Also right now I'm getting about 300 calories a day tops.  I eat about 4 times a day if I can.   Sometimes 3 if the foods just doesn't move along and I'm still full.   I'm not drinking with meals or for about 1 hour after.

You are not going to meet your protein goals with food only when you are just a few weeks out from surgery.  You can only eat a few tablespoons of food at a time.  It's impossible.

You won't have to live a life on protein shakes either.  Drink the shakes now to aid in your healing.  It really is CRUCIAL that you get your protein in while you are healing.  As time goes on, you will be able to eat a larger volume of food and will easily be able to meet those protein goals with food only.  Then the shakes can disappear.

Staying hydrated and meeting protein goals is your number one priority right now.

Protein I'm fairly confident I can hit with the shakes.   The water intake bothers me.   I'm worried because I get to where I can feel the liquid just past my throat.   And I see conflicting info.   Can I count the shakes as part of my liquid?

I will say I miss the days when I could drink 2 gallons of water a day.

Yes, the protein shakes definitely count as liquids too!  :)

The folks who seem to drink protein shakes after six months, do so because they like them. By six months (or even three for many folks), you will be able to meet your protein requirements without supplementation. If you are struggling with both liquids and protein, take the plunge and drink a few shakes. My advice would be to buy some sample packets, so you don't end up with a big jug of something you hate.

I love premier protein chocolate so I'll just continue with that.

I am 11 weeks post op and could definitely not hit my protein without my shake.  Every day I drink 1 shake and eat one 000 greek yogurt and I am guaranteed 45 proteins right there. I am not hitting my water at all but the doctor says to just keep plugging away. I do count my shake mixed with coffee as liquid.... Still not making it.

They don't have the 000 at our town yet but I'm waiting.   The yogurt I get has 12g of protein but I can only eat 1/3 of the container.   I'm excited to try the 000.
