Chicken broth
Homemade tastes better for sure and generally less sodium, etc. but convenient are those boxed broths and the flavors are a fun change. I like these as far as boxed go: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/01/frida y-five.html
Don't make or buy too much, you will be shocked at how little you will need... freeze homemade in a ice cube tray and then pop a few in a dish and nuke when you need them.
Excited for you! Hope you will soon be saying the same thing I do about having weight loss surgery BEST GIFT I EVER GAVE MYSELF!

Broth is better than bullion because the bullion is SO high in sodium, but chicken stock is every better than broth because it has more protein. Same for beef broth/bullion/stock.
If you can do homemade, that's great, but your energy level might be low so unless you want to make some before surgery, you may not feel like making it afterward. I just bought a large carton of chicken stock at the store, but I was on soft foods that first week post-op, so I was just using it for additional liquid after the first few days home (plain water made me nauseous).
