Dreading mealtime
If you could look inside your body and see what your new little pouch looks like now you wouldn't want to put anything in there but the softest, blandest foods.
Really, you have all the time in the world to experiment but I decided that since my eating was so dysfunctional before I had surgery I was going to stick to the straight and narrow until I reached goal, so no experimenting with sugar, carbs and other things I knew I had problems with. I figured I had plenty of time after reaching goal to play around and see what worked.
Just because something was on my plan didn't mean I ate it. I took it as suggestions but it was up to me to figure out what worked and what worked for me was very low carbs that first month, mainly because I could eat so little I really had to make sure what I did eat had a lot of protein. To this day I cannot eat enough protein so I supplement with 2 drinks a day. Usually only one but I am healing from major surgery so I have upped my protein intake.
I stayed with soft protein type foods like eggs and Greek yogurt and very moist meats. I love chicken and was sad to find that I did not tolerate it at all at first.
I decided to put it on the back burner and try it every so often to see how it went. Eventually I could eat it but even know every once in a while it won't agree with me. Nothing major, I just may get nauseous. I think it has happened once or twice in the last year, but that really is the only food that I eat regularly that affects me that way. Other than that I tolerate everything I try but I don't try things with sugar or gluten. I discovered I dumped by accident early out when I had something with sugar that I thought was sugar free, so I know I don't want to go through that pain again. And I had bad intestinal issues with my first WLS from things with refined carbs like white flour and I choose not to see if that has changed.
In fact, I can tell if I have accidentally eaten something with carbs within hours because of the intestinal distress. Just about every time I experience that I can trace it back to something I ate that I wasn't sure at the time was gluten free but decided I could take a chance. It never turns out well, lol.

Thank you! I think that is where I am also having trouble... how do you know what your body isn't liking since it takes so long to react. By the time my body is reacting, I have already had 2 meals (I think) and am not sure if it didn't like what I just ate, or what I ate 2 or even 3 meals before. Such a mystery! So I was guessing my body was reacting to the tuna this morning, but maybe it was the pudding last night or even dinner from last night. Same for other instances...
I think you said it well you sound like me. I say Never say Never but like you said Eventually you can try some foods but some we just might have to stay away from, Some are the foods that got us where we were and so I am determined not to go there again, I had my surgery Dec 30,14 and have lost 123 got more to go to get off but it going happen.
