Co-Morbidity Medications
I'm curious how long it too you to be able to get off of your medications for co-morbidity. Was it a certain weight you lost? Was it a time frame - like 6 months?
I was put on medication for high blood pressure mid-2013. Type 2 diabetes in January 2014. High cholesterol in August 2014. I've been on a CPAP machine for years.
Just really curious when I might have hopes of getting off of things.

On BP meds since 2006 -- stopped about 2 months pre-op after losing about 60 lbs. from high weight
On DMII meds since 2008 -- stopped Bydureon and fenofibrate (for DMII-associated high triglycerides) 4 months pre-op after losing about 40 lbs; stopped Invokana and metformin day of surgery and haven't been back on since. Last A1c was 5.6.
On CPAP since 2013 w/ AHI of 21 -- repeat study 4 months pre-op (40 lbs down) showed AHI of 7.3, but still clinically diagnosable apnea, so I got a new machine since I was going to meet my out-of-pocket max anyway. Recent repeat study (1 month post-op, down 90 from high weight) showed AHI < 5. I still wear it about half the time just out of habit (and because I work in the sleep medicine field and like to try out new masks myself before I try them on patients), but it's an autoset that never titrates very high anymore.
My surgery and the weight loss after has resolved so many medical issues for me. At 6 months, after losing 100lbs, the neurologist say that my Pseudotumor cerebri (that was causing my brain to have so much pressure that it pressed on my optic nerve, disturbed my vision and I was in danger of going blind) has mostly resolved itself. At 7 months (110lbs lost), I was taken completely off my CPAP machine. I was borderline diabetic and borderline high cholesterol before my surgery with very high triglyceride levels. At 9 months (130lbs lost), all of my blood work is at normal levels! There are certain health problems I was born with that will never go away but my overall health has improved SO MUCH! I have found just to be patient, stay on course and everything works out.
