well its seems I can't eat at home

Been home less than 24 hours, ate 2 meals, over ate both.   I'm frustrated and I'm laying here in bed thirsty, short on my water numbers, and unable to drink cause I still feel stuffed from dinner at 9.  I didn't pre measure, I eyeballed, and ate till I felt full.   I feel stupid.   Stupid and stuffed.   I just can't grasp how little I'm supposed to eat.  2 to 3 ounces is just unfathomable.  This is nothing like when I was banded.

We are driving to north Carolina tomorrow and I'm worried about the food my mother in law is going to make.   We have our cooler ready and we are packing it with luncheon meat and cheese for roll ups, cottage cheese, tuna, protein shakes, hummus, and yogurt.   I'm going to definitely make sure I'm not left without choices on the road.

Glad your finally home.

Get yourself some measuring cups and bring those with you.  You really need to measure things out right now so you don't overeat especially after all you have been through.

Yes the RNY is definitely different from the band.  Take it one day at a time and don't push yourself.

How long is the drive?

12 hours if we go all at once.   We most likely will stop.   Depends on how my feet are doing and how I'm feeling.   Doc gave me lovenox so I don't clot.  But we aren't going to take chances.

I would stop and walk around every 2 hours honestly.  Make sure you take a pillow in case you start to get uncomfortable sitting.  12 hours even broken up is a long ride for someone so soon after surgery.

Remember your only a couple of weeks from your rny surgery and a few days from your other surgery.

Just be aware of how your body feels and make sure you sip water the entire time.  Don't push yourself.

We've stopped 4 times already.   Bad for the pocketbook because it's all been at antique malls.   But I've got some cute stuff!   Hehe he

I've got a cooler full of la croix cans and I have one open at all times letting all the carbonation out.   Been sipping the whole time and for the first time since surgery I will hit my water goals.  Yay!

At first you may not feel be able to tell you are full. That is why it is so important to measure and only eat what you are told. As you get farther done the road you will tell you are getting full. This early in the game I was not really ever hungry so I just ate what I was suppose to when I was suppose to.

Good plan to pack for your trip. And  agree make sure you are measuring everything you eat!

Band and RNY are completely different beasts - but it is very hard to "know" that until you've lived through both :)

I had to travel to a freaking wedding a few weeks out from my revision and I basically went back to broth, protein shakes, syntax nectar ice tea protein drink and water.  Maybe a cheese stick or two.  I napped during the reception meal and enjoyed the rest of the party.  You must go slow - especially given your complications.  I know you are busting to see your kiddos. Concentrate on that and forget about MIL and food for a bit.  There's time enough for that later when you are lean and in fighting form!

Good luck - Ashley

If you ate till you feel full you soooooo ate too much . Measure!!!! I don't know what your doctors plan says for you but I know this early out I sure wasn't eating cheese and deli meat . Follow your plan but make sure you measure . One or two ounces is your new life. 12 years out I can't eat a whole egg.

I can do cheese up to two servings a day,  and I can have deli meat but only processed ham and turkey.   No roast beef yet.  I can also do tuna and the canned chicken for chicken salad.   I for those individual size cans and made chicken salad last night.   One individual can,  little mayo and mustar, sugar free relish, salt and pepper.   HOLY CANOLLI!  That made like 4 meals worth of chicken salad.   Lol  from one of those little cans that I could easy like 4 of before surgery.  Lol

Oh and my doc gave me a sleeve of the 1 ounce dosing cups for liquid meds.  He said try to put everything in those.   So I have a bunch with me.   I'm gonna just put everything in 2 cups and stick to that,  and only do 1 more cup of I'm still hungry later.
