pureed food diet--week 3 (trouble with eliminating drinks with food)

I am 3 weeks post op, and I'm just able to eat pureed food and cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.  I am finding that I keep reverting to protein drinks because I'm bored with the food choices and because I don't like waiting 45 minutes after I eat to drink anything.  Any advice?

Give yourself time.  At three weeks, I was mainly on protein shakes.  I drink lots of water right up until I start eating and then am not so thirsty after eating, bu****ch for salty foods.

Just buckle down and do it.  It takes practice and, at three weeks out, you haven't had much time to get it figured out.  Drinking with meals is one of the biggest common denominators in re-gain.  Not drinking with your meals is a rule you must follow for life.  It does gets easier with time and soon it will be your new routine.

Getting your new stomach used to eating real food is very important.  Eat your meals and wait the 45 minutes to drink.  That's your new normal.

I have to put my water bottle out of my sight until I can drink again. In the beginning I would have to put it in a drawer at my desk so I wouldn't just grab it out of habit.

check out the world according to eggface...her RICOTTA BAKE is BOMB!!! i lived on it when I was in that stage. The drinking is just another thing you need to adjust. I just make sure I dont have a drink around because old habits die hard.

Thanks for the advice.  So, you think I'll get used to not drinking while eating?  I hope so!  I'll definitely check out that website and recipe!!

for sure you will get used to it. I used to drink a TON of water at meals. Now it doesnt even phase me and I am only 10 or 11 weeks out.

I worked on not drinking during meals, pre-op.

It took a couple of months to get used to it.

I bet it will take a month or two for you also
