What kind of pre op diet are you on?  You probably should call the Dr's office and ask what is acceptable to take.

I meant to say that I have had the surgery 6/10/15.  I am on the post op diet at this time.

If you're still on liquids only at this point (I know I was at one week out), then yes... I'd say that's normal.  I didn't go for a long time.  Not until soft foods and protein shakes were permitted.  Even then... I was lucky to go 1-2 times per week.

it was exactly a week after surgery when I first "went" - and I left the hospital on a pureed food and protein shake diet.  If you did all liquids for a few days, I assume it could take even longer.  My instructions were to call if it had been more than 10 days.

If you are feeling constipated, though, call your doctor. I thought because I was on liquids and going minimally, that it was normal. Wrong!! I had a bowel impaction at 10 days that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Horrifically painful!! Daily dose of Miralax is my best friend now!!

you should call your doctor.  You can read story after story on these boards about constitpation.  I was home for 5 days before i had to go to the bathroom.  But the pain of that i will never forgot the only bad day of the entire surgery.  Call and tell the office and get some recommendations from them to be prepared.

OTC stool softeners and Miralax should be your new best friends.  Don't go overboard, but do pay attention.  Take my word for it, you really don't want to be so bound up you can't pass anything.
