Smells?

Yes the bad taste does go away. However, the seasonings still taste stronger to me after 2 years. Everything tastes saltier and sweeter. But I still love all seasonings, especially garlic!

I eventually got so sick of the protein powder flavor I stopped all shakes and bars and yogurt for a good 6 months. Now I like it all again. Weird!

I hate having to drink the protein drinks, they are all gross to me.  But I just can't eat enough to get in my protein without having one a day!

I had the "prego" nose too! It drove me crazy and at times I could even smell my hubby's bad breath while he was sleeping so I would roll over away from him! It got better for me after a few months so I hope it does for you too.

Yes!  It was terrible for me.  Cigarette smoke was the worst, followed by other people's body odor.  I swear I could smell it all.    it got better after a few months.

This definitely has happened to me too.  I hope it goes away soon!

For me it was only other people's personal odor.  Everyone smelled like they had been out binging on alcahol all night.  Even those who I know don't drink.  I smelled it on everyone - even myself sometimes.  It was just a rancid alcohol smell, like the way a dive bar smells sometimes.  I have no idea why.  But it's getting better.

All food and spices still smell really good.  Especially when I drive past the KFC every day on my way home.  I wish that would go away.

Glad to hear this isn't a problem that I've drummed up in my head.  I am 14 days post-op and I can't even begin to explain the heightened sense of smell I have developed!  My poor hubby - I keep asking him "are you SURE you brushed your teeth?" ... eeew

Now I can tell him it isn't him - its' me!

My son bought me a dozen roses at the hospital he was so upset because I said I can't stand the smell of them. My brother came to see me and I couldn't stand the smell of smoke on him. I have had lots of surgery and RNY is the only one that triggered my nose

I wonder if that has anything to do with the vagus nerve being cut or damaged during surgery.  My surgeon severs the vagus nerve and said it decreases appetite.

I get a runny nose or sneezing if I eat too much.

Oh my gosh, that makes so much sense!  I get a runny nose now too when I eat a few too many bites.  I wonder if this is a routine part of the surgery that they just don't say anything about.  (Mine didn't anyway).
