Smells?

I have found, that since my RNY surgery in April my nose is like SUPER CRAZY good at smelling everything and anything!! ! YUCK!  I also have this super power while pregnant...but obviously that isnt the case right now  WTF!!??

Also the cannot stand the smell of garlic, or the taste of it anymore....I used to LOVE garlic. 

Also I always seem to have that nasty "protein" taste in my mouth, you know the yucky protein powder after taste?!?!  YUCK no matter how many times I brush my teeth....still there!! 

Anyone else have this stuff going on?  Or is this all in my head (as my husband is telling me)

That happened to me too.  The good news is that it only lasted a few months for me.  I hope yours resolves soon.

No! I totally had that too for a couple of months post-op. I actually had to get my mom to come and clean out my fridge for me at one point because there was something in it that "smelled" and I couldn't even open the door.

It's worn off now though.

I am glad I can tell my husband that if it's in MY HEAD, then its in some other people's heads as well!!  SERIOUSLY!  He tried to kiss me last night after he ate some garlic hummus and I almost threw up! 

I'm still in the hospital post op from rny.  The moment I woke up I could smell everything!   My poor husband came to visit yesterday and his breath was so bad I made him go brush his teeth in the bathroom.   And my night time nurse aid wears terrible lotion.   All the food is too sweet.   Even the ice and water tastes sweetened.   My nose and tastes are all jacked up.

The bad taste in your mouth is ketosis.  That's normal and means you're burning fat.  Drink more water.   It helps more than brushing your teeth.    

I drink SO MUCH WATER!!  I don't know if I can drink more!  HAHAHA

My senses are all off too.  Smells can be very overpowering.  My taster is all messed up too (but in good ways).  I had a tiny sip of Coke Zero recently - with no intention of any more than a sip because the carbonation is bad, I know.  No worries about avoiding that.  It tasted like chemicals and metal.  YUCK.  During surgery prep I used canned protein drinks.  I thought they were great.  Now they taste disgusting and have a metallic taste.  Where I used to not be picky about how something tasted, now I only want fabulous tasting food.

I used to love drinking Crystal Light before surgery, just for something different other than water.  Now NOPE NOPE NOPE!  Its horrible tasting to me

The same thing happened to me with Cyrstal Light. Now I dilute it. I only use 1 packet in stead of 2 when making lemonade. I love it!
