P3

Has anybody tried the Oscar Mayer product called P3? Its a portable protein pack that contains some cubed meat, cubed cheese and some nuts. I believe they're all a 2 oz serving and contain 12-14 grams of protein. The one I just had was turkey, reduced fat cheddar cheese and dry roasted peanuts. It had 170 cals, 3 grams of carbs and 14 grams of protein. I think its incredibly convenient and the perfect size for my lunch while at work. Thoughts???

I have eaten them. Some people may give you flack about the sodium and preservatives but if you are getting your fluids in the sodium really shouldn't be an issue.

They are a little pricey for me so I also make my own sometimes. Just get the deli to slice a piece of turkey (ham or whatever you like) thick. Tell them you want to make small cubes with it. I like this because I like the cracked black pepper turkey lunchmeat so I can use it.

Pick a cheese to cube. The only thing I have to watch it the nuts. I have to pay more for a smaller packet because I can't have a lot around the house or I will eat them.

It only takes a few minutes to throw a few together and you can get a bigger variety. But to each his own. :-)

I keep them stocked in my fridge at home and work. I also have used the meat and cheese to throw together a quick omelette in the evening.

I discovered these from the Daily Menu Forum about 2 weeks ago and I love them!  They are delicious, handy, and filling.  I have 3-4 a week.  Usually for dinner.  The ham gave me a little trouble (it was the first pork I'd tried), but it stayed down.  I'm going to pick up some more today at the grocery store.

I've seen those and I've also recently seen a Sargento product called Balanced Breaks that have nuts, cheese and a bit of dried fruit.  The one I tried was swiss (ish) cheese, almonds and dried cranberries.  It's 190 cals, 12g carbs and 7g protein, so I can't quite see doing that one on the regular, but it's out there in case of a pinch.
