just at 4 months and losing hair :(
Hair loss for me started at month 4 and at first it was just a few strands here and there but I have a lot of very fine hair. Then it started coming out in chunks and a few of my friends and co-workers (who didn't know I had gastric) thought I had cancer! There are bald spots with 1 inch fuzz now (month 6 beginning) so it is growing back and hair loss has slowed down. I know it will grow back and this surgery has given me years back on my life so I try not to stress out about it and look at the big picture. I have been on biotin since before surgery and will keep it up. I was afraid to get my hair cut because I wanted to hang on to what I had and didn't want to explain the massive hair loss to my stylist. Well - finally broke down and went and have to tell you it was the best thing I did. She put in layers and trimmed it up and it feels so much better. This too shall pass!
I've always been a "shedder", but this is ridiculous! I lose so much daily, and now I am just terrified to wash my hair! I bought Keranique, not to help with the loss, but my surgeon said it would help the new growth come in thicker and faster. I tried it once, and it may have been coincidence, but I lost handful after handful after handful as I was rinsing. It scared me. Nothing will make it stop. It sucks, and I hate it. I know I am being vain, but it does make me sad. I used to have full, thick hair, and now my ponytail is half its previous size. I am four and a half months out, and I really hope it slows down soon. I have always had long hair as my face is naturally a round shape and I can't pull off short, so cutting it won't work for me. Just praying it stops soon.
I had the same surgery back at Feb. 11, 2006. I lost a lot of hair and teeth as well. I lost my gallbladder Feb. 9th 2007. I lost 235 lbs. I started to have some pretty rough complications, hernia and ulcers galore which started Jul 2010, and now have had 23 surgeries all GI & Hernia. I had internal GI Bleeding and I was good at taken my meds like I'm supposed to be! My personality has changed to more a depressed state because of being in the hospital to much, and now my viens are scarred and pain meds tolerance has been bad. Morphine doesn't help, only Diladed or more potent meds for pain control which is sad!
Huh? Aside from your post being incorrect, your advice is ridiculous - what exactly can "be removed" with the sleeve? You are very misinformed.

In July I will be 11 years out and still struggle with hair loss. It falls out, regrows, falls out, regrows. It's an awful battle. My bloodwork is fine, I get in a lot of protein, take my vitamins. It's devastating, because I always had thick hair, and now its so thin, brittle, and looks like I had a bad perm on the ends. I wish someone would find a solution for us.
