ERCP via G-Tube?

Hi all,

I posted some more details in the WLS Grads forum, but I have chronic biliary disease seemingly out of the blue starting last year.  They were able to remove a bile duct stone last year with an intraoperative laparoscopic ERCP.  However, this year, I'm having issues again, and they want to go in via a g-tube.  Anyone else had this done?  What was your experience?  Anyone had to have more than two ERCPs and in such a short time?  My gall bladder was removed in 2003, six months post-RNY.

Thanks,Shari

My bariatric surgeon thought I should have the ERCP through G tube for pancreas issues and sent me to a specialist at Indiana University Medical Center.  After several appointments the specialist told me how to handle the pain episodes and wanted to save ERCP through G tube as a "last resort" because of high incidence of complications.

I don't know your situation, but would say be cautious.

Thanks Penny. I'm headed to the Mayo Clinic for another opinion at the end of this month, but the ERCP specialist is also cautious. I startedasking many questions, especially since they're not even sure there is a stone in there this time and he already performed a sphincterotomy last year. I appreciate the words of caution!
