What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Good Morning! I am back to work today after having my gallbladder removed on Thursday! My surgeon also found a "kink" in my intestines that he fixed while in there! So that was a good find. I am still a bit sore, but feeling good. Although I have even LESS desire to eating ANYTHING now. I mean I havent been hungry since the RNY surgery, but now everything looks and smells SO GROSS!! I have to force myself to eat. Its really horrible, and a problem i have NEVER had before! LOL
NSV: hhhmmmmm I take up less room in our recliner and my 20 month old can fit next to me, instead of having to sit on my lap!
9 weeks since surgery
B: Syntrax Vanilla Bean Torte 1 scoop, 3/4 cup skim milk, a few ice cubes
L: 1 cup pureed Progresso Light Beef Pot Roast soup
S: Dannon L&F greek yogurt
D: Lean ham steak with cheesy cauliflower
S: Light string cheese
Totals: Cals: 489 Protein: 65 Carbs: 36 Fat: 11
There you are! I'm glad you're doing better after the surgery, even if you don't want to eat anything. Take advantage while it lasts! LOL
Well it was REALLY bad for a few days, like I was only having a protein shake for the whole day! DANGEROUS!! I couldn't even bring myself to take my vitamins etc!!
So I am forcing myself to eat things now, which I know some people would love that problem. I made a dinner last night that I have been looking forward to, the smell alone made it so I couldnt eat it! It smelled HORRIBLE to me......
Hey, so glad you had your GB surgery and that the surgeon found your kink... that sounds like it could have been dangerous.
I dealt with nausea and NOTHING being appetizing for the 1st month after my RNY. I had to be re-intubated in recovery and because of that, I was coughing up a lot of blood and gunk for a long time. And, everything tasted awful!!! And, I still find at times that I have to force myself to eat, just because I don't feel like it!
As AV said, enjoy it while you can. Just remember to be kind to yourself for the next couple of weeks, you have been through a lot lately. Stay hydrated and sip soups and easy food... not the time to be tackling a big ol' steak!
Very happy to hear that your GB surgery went okay... you had a lot of supporters here wishing you well while you were gone.
And I agree - take advantage of that 'nothing smells or tastes good' feeling, no doubt it won't stick around too long. Reli****!
As for the kink on your intestines thing - I'm wondering if it's more common than we might realize. My Mom was having pains for a long time and had all kinds of treatments and tests... but the only thing that fixed it was a colonoscopy. The doc said her insides were as crooked as Route 66 and he 'straightened' things out in there while he probed for other problems. She never had that pain again. Then last week I had a colonoscopy as well, and since that day I have not once suffered from the debilitating constipation that I've suffered from since the surgery. Oh... it feels so good to be able to 'go' like a normal person!
Anyway - keep up your strength, you're doing great!
Hi Kristen and all,
Great topic today - I haven't been posting lately, and guess what...I am up 3 lbs...it's pretty demoralizing although it's no shock considering I have been eating this and that. I need to make the time to come read the post, plan my menu, log it, and make better choices. So my NSV is that I am realizing I need some accountability to stop eating like a "normal" person and having a few cookies here and there.
That being said, I am off to France for a weeklong business trip on Saturday. It's hard to stay on plan in a country known for cheese, wine and baguettes, but my goal is to get a workout in every day. I also plan to do a ton of walking.
Time Since Surgery: Almost 18 months!
B: HUGE iced coffee with low fat half and half, light and fit yogurt
L: Trader Joe's crab stuffed flounder
S: Boursin cheese with peppers
D: Some chips and queso, the insides of chicken tacos
E: I got 10,000 steps by 9:30 am today - walked to gym and did an hour on the Arc Trainer and walked home :)
Totals are 1,500 calories, 88 g protein, 100 g carbs. Hmmm, high carbs. Gotta rethink the chips.
Have a great day of great choices, everyone!
That's a good NSV. I find myself sometimes getting all whiny like "why can't I have that? Everyone else is having it.". It feels like I have to try and talk myself down from the ledge.
Ooooh, France! Didn't you just go to Mexico? LOL
OMG I know. It's such a first world problem to have a business trip to France that you aren't looking forward to. I just don't like being away from my workout and food routine - eating out three meals a day is NOT conducive to weight loss or maintenance. Also, I close on a new condo two days after I get back - being out of the country the week before you move is a little daunting :) Thank god I work from home so sometimes I put my ear buds in while I am on calls and force myself to pack a box. Another NSV - I have the energy to pack an apartment while going to the gym everyday and having an insane social life. Rewind two years - no way, no how!
PS And yep, Cancun was vacation, and was AWESOME!
