Good Morning!  Does anyone else live in an area where the weather is crazy windy today?  This is some Wizard of Oz level **** out here this morning.

So, how was everyone's weekend?  We managed to get downstate, see family and friends and be back home in under 24 hours.  New record!  I was even able to finish off the weeding before getting to spend some quality time with my lounge chair.  Yay!  Not 'yay' was my experience with the new mint chocolate Quest bar.  I want to say I loved it, because it tasted yummy, but about an hour after I ate it (and only half!) there was a revolution in my guts and it was horrible.  Can you dump or have dumping-like symptoms with sugar alcohols?  I typically only eat 1/2 a Quest bar at a time, but I think I'm officially off them after that incident.  I may have mentioned it before, but I feel like the further out from the surgery I get, the more sensitive I am to certain sugars/fake sugars.  Bummer.

Time since surgery:  almost 11 months

B:  coffee and a Special K breakfast sandwich

S:  P3 pack; turkey/almonds/Colby jack

L:  ham/cream cheese/pickle rollups and a cheese stick.  I finally got around to trying the Greek yogurt cream cheese; it's really good!

D:  cheeseburger on the grill

TOTALS:  cals:  868  protein:  71  carbs:  41  fat:  47

NEXT!

Good morning, menu world. AV, I totally sometimes get intestinal distress from Quest bars and I think it is the sugar alcohols. It's funny though, it's only sometimes and it isn't like "Oh I had a Vanilla Almond Crunch bar and it makes me sick every time" it's any flavor, randomly.

I had a good weekend and kept my gym streak alive - yippee! I also picked up a new workout outfit (yes, a full outfit! Patterned capris pants and a matching tank) as my prize. I mean, I can't HAVE them until next weekend when the 14 days are up, but I have them to look at and stay motivated! Today was Day 8 of the streak and I did this Triple Threat Cardio Circuit Workout from Pop Sugar Fitness. 15 minutes each on the bike, elliptical and treadmill. I've been getting bored with my regular old cardio routine so I liked mixing things up.

Time since surgery: 15 months

B: Chobani tube, breakfast sandwich, iced coffee

S: L&F with sliced almonds

L: mini meatloaf, string cheese, granola thin

S: turkeys sticks, Babybel Light

D: TJ's turkey meatballs with sauce and cheese

S: PowerCrunch with my ESL student, popcorn and a froyo bar

TOTALS: Calories 1467, Protein 121, Carbs 114, Fat 67

V/W: started

E: Triple Threat Cardio Circuit

PS. This weekend I got pre-formed tequila lime turkey burgers from Whole Foods and they were AWESOME. I could only eat about 1/3 of the burger, but I highly recommend them. They come in a package of two - I picked up a single roll from the bakery and feed Mr. Ikea one on the roll and I ate mine sans bun and it was perfect (then he scarfed up my leftover).

I love that you bought only one bun.  I so need to do that!

Where did you pick up your new workout outfit?

Yes! It was perfect. Em helped me plan what to make and suggested the turkey burgers and then we figured I could buy a single roll. I was thinking - if I have buns in my house I will die because I looooooove bread and butter, but of course don't really eat that anymore so having it in my house would spell disaster.

I ended up getting the new workout gear Old Navy. I was considering buying Lululemon pants - but when I happened to mentioned it in passing to my sister she basically screamed NO, they're bad people - then when I looked into it, they really are....

Do tell what you know of Lululemon as I have thought about buying stuff from them too? The last place I bought some stuff was Forever 21 which for the price haven't been too bad.

Anna I was wondering if I could ask, what is a turkey stick?  And the TJs meatballs, do they come pre packaged with sauce and cheese and are low in carbs?  Im only two weeks out of surgery but I watch to see what ppl eat and the meatballs show up on menus over and over.

Lily, these are the turkey sticks I buy. I typically eat two sticks and that's 90 calories, 8 grams of protein and ZERO carbs! It took me a while to get over the yuck factor of preserved meat, I've never been a fan, but the zero carb factor pushed me over the edge.

As for the TJ's meatballs - you buy them in the freezer section and they're the meatballs only, I add the sauce (I like Ragu Light, or it might be called Reduced Sugar, I can't remember right now). 2 meatballs are 100 calories, 12 grams of protein and 5 carbs - a pretty decent ratio. When I first started using them I would eat 2, now I typically eat three.

I've been in a rut lately so my dinners mainly consist of TJ's meatballs or TJ's chicken sausages (watch which you pick, some of more calories than others - but the sweet italian is my go-to at 100 calories a link).

Sugar alcohols can reek havoc on your insides!!  I tolerate most pretty well but long ago when my husband and i were doing the Atkins diet we would get these sugar-free chocolate muffins.  He would actually eat them on the toilet because they did such damage.  The taste was worth the pain to him (gotta love hubbies).

My weekend was ok.  My headache on Thursday bloomed into a full on migraine by mid-morning.  It didn't let up until Friday afternoon.  I have only had 2 migraines since surgery so I am very thankful but they are still awful.  Lacrosse season ended this weekend and the kids are done with school tomorrow afternoon.  Summer is officially here.  Now its on to camps and summer school.

Good Morning and happy Monday! We are going to hit triple digits here today so goal is to stay cool! Do the quest bars list the sugar alcohols different than most products? I see Erythritol on some but never the word "alcohol"-I know that may seem like a silly question.  So far I seem to do well with the quest bars but I know my stomach did not like the pre-made sugar free pudding and I assumed it was the sugar alcohols in that.....

Weekend was nice as we hit up some farmers markets for fresh produce and roller skating was SO MUCH FUN (Pic on Friday!)

Time since surgery: 9 1/2 months

B: SF latte, egg beater scramble with spinach and cheese, fruit (blueberries, blackberries and strawberries) and a teeny piece of wheat walnut raisin bread my hubby made for me awhile back (he loves to make bread in a bread maker and he made me a special loaf that I froze in slices and break it into a few servings)

S: Cranberry thin addictives and a laughing cow cheese wedge

L: P3 Ham pack and fiber one salted caramel square (found at Target!)

S: L&F Greek Strawberry yogurt and a handful of pumpkin flax granola

D: Grilled steak salad and froyo

E: ½ hour stationary stepper and hula hoop

V/W: On track

Totals: Cals: 1213 Protein: 86 Carbs: 123 Fat: 41
