About to hop a train to Seattle for 4 days at a professional conference...I'm on the soft food stage, so I have a cooler packed with cottage cheese, cheese sticks, sliced turkey, and yogurt. It should be fun trying to network and socialize when I can't eat normal food, but I'll just have to try my best! The worst part is there's no microwave in my hotel room, so I'm currently eating my last hot meal til Wednesday, lol. Wish me luck!

You will do fine. Can you do eggs without getting sick? Can you eat ground meat yet? Those are two options you can look for while you're away.  And soups too, I did soup.  A small container of egg drop soup is a nice hot food fix. Don't worry about wasting food, as you won't be able to eat it all.  Enjoy what you can.

This past week I pretty much only ate ricotta, mini baby Bels, and RTD Premier shakes during the day.  My co-workers think I'm wacky.  I don't care!

Enjoy the conference and remember, this is the new normal.  You are eating normal food, just tiny amounts. mind over matter!

Fish worked great for me in soft food stage. Even now, during small pouch days, or early in the day, fish (poached, sauted, broiled) it's my to go food.

Even if there's no microwave in your hotel room, I've found that the front desk staff usually has one in their break room and will be happy to let you use theirs...it's worth a shot!  I used to ask many hotels to keep my sugar free pops in their freezers and they did :)  Good luck.

You got this. Work conferences can be really tough. Its sounds like you have a good start with preparation.

Sometimes hotels, especially the bigger chains, will bring a microwave and fridge to your room if you ask. it doesn't hurt to make the inquiry when you check in.

Otherwise, the advice above is perfect. Eggs are a great protein and can be made soft (I especially like soft poached eggs). Also, the fish suggestion is perfect as well. I also like soups. I will drink the broth first, then eat the solids, which are generally very soft.

Again, your sensitivity will dictate what you can have, but you should be able to find something that you can eat thats hot. My advice is to stay away from the continental breakfast that is almost always in these conferences. The look and smell of the pastries still tempt me today. Also, be careful with juice. I'm sure you're aware of how much sugar is packed in liquid form.

Good luck, and let us know how you did.

If you have a coffee maker in your room, you can heat up water and do cream of wheat or oatmeal.  Those were my "go to's" during the soft food stage.  I also loved scrambled eggs and those tuna packets that you don't have to drain.  Good luck and good for you for planning so well for your conference.  You're off to a great start!

Truth is, other people won't really care what you eat.
