Grim - when I first decided to get RNY, I didn't know a single person who had had it.  All I knew is that I needed to do something.  I had the usual doubts (will it work for me???) and when I saw you on here with your massive weight loss, it was SUCH an inspiration.  From my first day on OH, I believed that I could do this because of you, and Laura in TX and Lora and a few others who just rocked your tool.  I also track everyday and I advise others to do the same.  It helps me to be accountable and like you, I can eat massive amounts of food, so I need to keep it reigned in by logging every bite.  Sometimes I laugh, like today where I logged 16 calories of dried cranberries from my lunch salad.  But I know that carbs and calories sneak in so I make sure to count my half and half and random snacks.  Way to go on your awesome success and thanks for all of your support over the last 1.5 years+

I'm not a "tracker" -- after the first 6 months I gave it up, other than for a few days once or twice a year just to be sure I was still on track -- and it had been working for me until I gained some weight after my knee replacement surgery.  I have gone back to tracking while trying to lose that weight, and I agree that it is absolutely invaluable for showing the cold hard facts of what we are eating... IF we are 100% honest.

I sometimes look at the food logs of clients and it is amazing how many "cheat" on their tracking even when they aren't expecting anyone to see it! (So far "It was just two bites of my husband's jelly filled doughnut, so it was almost no calories so I didn't bother putting it in" is my favorite!)

Keep up the good work, my friend!

First of all,  love reading your  responses  to the questions people ask.... Congratulations on your continued success,  you're an inspiration and practice what you preach.

If l don't log my food l end up losing weight,  but I'm sure it would just be a matter of time before l went the other way.

Best wishes on your future goals and thanks for the laughs!

Congratulations Grim!

I also track my food & I wanted to be brutally honest with myself, so the good, the bad & the ugly goes in there. I actually use a food journal too, it's easier for me to see overall how I ate during the week rather than scroll thru the pages on mfp, heck I write in a journal too. I like to write, hey whatever works! Luv your responses &

YOU ROCK!!!

Wow, congrats.

I was given a log sheet from my doctor and have been using that, only keeping track of protein and fluids.  Pre-surgery I was using Web MD's tracker and it was a pain.  Well, I'm 6 months post op as of tomorrow and due to a stall I started tracking on MFP to keep track of my calories too.  I am only at 3 days but am amazed at how easy it is.  Hope I will continue for 1000 days.  Thanks for the inspiration.  Denise

Grim thanks for sharing, especially the part where you confessed to having a few 4,000 calorie days. I am only 3 months out and log everything, even when I am not happy with the choices I have made. I have been doing fairly well, but went on a family trip this weekend and was somehow able to eat 1,600 calories one of the days just by making poor choices and testing my limits with sugar. Tonight I used MFP to pre-plan a 700 calorie menu for tomorrow, but the guilt of my 1,600 calorie day was still messing with my head. Knowing that you have had a few days like that and have been able to get yourself back on track made me feel more confident about my ability to redirect myself. Thanks for sharing.

Darn you Grim...You made me put back my pita bread and rice with butter!!  Curse you!!  No, really great concept.  I think of how Weigh****chers would have you log on paper years ago.  But now, with a free app it is so much easier.  Good going.  Just wondering if you do any regular exercise?  Thanks, Brian

WOWZA, how awesome is that!!! 1000 days.  I'm only at 125 and thought I was doing good.  You've made a commitment to a better lifestyle and took the necessary steps to get there.  KUDOS to you.
