I am feeling nervous and mystified. I just started the soft food stage today. It is the last stage before regular food. Throughout all stages. liquid, puree and now soft I felt no restriction at all. I am able to take all my pills and capsules as well. I almost feel like my surgeon poked a few holes in my abdomen and sent me on my way. I am scared I will revert to my old habits with out feeling any real restriction. Has any one felt this way. Why do i not get the full feeling or something to let me know to stop. I have been following all the rules until now. Please don't tell me that there is something wrong here. I stuck to the amount that I supposed to eat, and I still can eat more. Help

You are still healing.  The nerves in your stomach have been cut and can not be trusted to send the "full" message to your brain.  That is why it's so important to measure your portion sizes and eat ONLY what your surgeon's plan recommends.  Just because you don't feel restriction and can eat more, does not mean that you should.  It takes a long time for that full feeling to return.  When you start eating more solid foods it will be obvious that you have a new stomach.

Obese people have used the "full" sensation as an emotional crutch.  We like that "Thanksgiving Day stuffed" feeling.  We are not supposed to eat until we feel full.  We are supposed to learn to be satisfied with what we measure out.  Now is the time to retrain your brain to be satisfied and not rely on "feelings" to keep us from over eating.  We need to change EVERYTHING about how we approach food.  Get in the habit of weighing and measuring your portions out.  In time, those portion sizes can creep up on us resulting in weight gain.  The most successful WLS patients continue to keep a close eye on those portion sizes.  I will be 5 years out this year and still measure my food.   I don't trust myself to eyeball my portions  and if I rely on a "full feeling", I know I will over eat.   You have to take responsibility for how much and what you eat.  You have to measure out your portion and eat ONLY what you have measured.

So I'm in this same boat, but if you can't feel full yet because of the cut nerves, what are you supposed to do when your surgeon's plan gives no recommended portions and says (verbatim), "the best way to decide on portions is to listen to your stomach?"

That's a pretty fair question, and the same thing my surgeon said.  My NUT was the one to tell me to track everything and just make sure I'm getting in my fluids and proteins (just enough, not more than necessary), and stop at that.

You won't feel restriction for a while yet. It's normal. Make sure you measure your food, and stick to your plan. Don't try to test things by eating more.

I always agree with Grim (mostly.)  In this case, do exactly as he said!
