I need guidance
My plan wouldn't let me eat the cereal or the applesauce. I know they are ok on some, but I try to do a protein coffee for my morning meal. (My No-No's are bread, pasta, cereal, rice & Sugar, which I do cheat on occasionally, but I try to make it the exception) I get 35 G protein and its an easy healthy way to start the day on a positive note. That said you have made a great start on your losses so your can't be doing too bad. Good luck as you continue you journey.
First of all kudos for asking for advice. We all need the help and support of others that have or are walking the same road.
I'm 6 years post RNY and hardly remember my early months. I have stayed with my bariatric plan:
0-6 months: 600-800 calories, 40-60 gram carbs, 60-80 grams protein.
6-12 months: 800-1200 calories, 60-80 grams carbs, 60-80 grams protein.
12-18 months: 1100-1300 calories, 100-130 grams carbs, 80 grams protein.
Maintenance: 1200-1400 calories, 130 gram carbs, 80 grams protein.
My mantra has always been protein first at every meal or snack, then veggies and fruit. I choose to not eat cereal because it it high in calories/carbs and little protein. Cereal in a box is usually processed food with added chemicals. I stay away from processed food, fast food, sodas, alcohol, and white flour, white sugar (crackers, cookies, muffins, cake, pretzels, etc.) I want good nutrition/fuel for my body.
At 6 years out I do best staying at 1100 calories and 80 grams carbs from veggies, fruit and dairy.
I also have problems with meat - unless it is ground up. I add salsa or some type of moisture with very small bites of meat and chew, chew, chew. If the first couple of bites bother me - I stop! I get protein from protein powder and drinks, plain greek yogurt, eggs & dairy products and ground or thinly sliced organic meat. I can eat boiled eggs but often get nauseated with an egg that is sauteed or fried in any oil. We all have foods that don't agree with us. My pouch is still "grouchy" at 6 years out and I've learned how to live with it.
To keep my blood protein levels good I take in 80-100 grams protein a day.
Best wishes on your journey,
Penny
