My denial was overturned!
Last Thursday I was supposed to be in Philadelphia to have my first hearing to appeal my insurance company's decision to deny my surgery (lapband converting to rny). I got a call (3 minutes to closing) the night before from my advocate from my insurance company asking me to call her back the day before. Ugh...tell me they are reschedulling me... So, I call her Thursday morning before the long ride to Philly and she says "I hope I caught you before you left. They read your appeal letter (they wait until the day before?) and they overturned the denial. We will send you an approval letter in the mail." Well...then... I'm honestly still in shock. I've had such a long road. I started the process towards revision on January 28th 2014 and I have had three surgery dates since then. I won't believe it is covered until I wake up and they tell me it is done I swear. I have been burned so many times. I am excited, but I am so tentative now. Plus with 8 years of having the lapband and gaining back 60 out of the 85 pounds I lost....I'm back to being so close again and feel raw and scared. I just want to be a loser.

137 pounds lost - from a 24/26W to a size 8/10!
congrats thats soooo awesome!!
I had two prior bands, and then had to have it removed as it almost killed me ( got sepsis) .. just had rny 2 weeks ago and so far..i know im not far in.. but WOW such a huge difference! I feel for me this was the right decision. I just had the worst luck with the band. The eating is a lot more strict, which is what i think i needed ya know.
I wish you the best of luck, and congrats! ( i had to pay cash on mine... couldnt get approval!)
Embrace this, you got it!!
Congrats!!! I am sure the long process was painful but you are so close! Insurance just loves to be a pain and drag it out if they can but YOU WON!
I wish you you the best of luck! I will be converting in the next month as well... A long awaited change. My dr recently told me they are taking out more bands they they are putting in these days. Bummer....
