5 weeks post surgery and feeling like I could eat all day. Is this normal?

The first couple of weeks I couldn't eat a thing. The past week I feel like I could eat all day and never feel full. Is this normal? I'm not eating large portions, just seems like I'm eating every hour. HELP!!!

I around the same time frame, feel the same way!  I am trying to increase my fluids to help.

I don't know if it's normal per se, but I can tell you it's something I've experienced since day 1 post-op. I just started purees on Monday, and now it seems to be random -- sometimes 2 oz of shredded chicken and a yogurt doesn't fill me up, but sometimes 1/4 cup of cottage cheese does. It sounds like you're doing the right thing by eating more frequently instead of eating larger portions (which could stretch your new pouch) and by not "testing it" to see how much you can eat. I'm certainly learning why my nutritionist advised I not count calories though!

Quick edit -- I meant eating large portions could stretch the staple line of your new pouch and increase your risk of a leak, not "stretch your pouch" as in making it bigger.

Thank's for the feedback. I did much better today. I also noticed that I do better if I have a protein shake for breakfast.

Each day is different for me.  Each meal can even be different.  When I told my Nutritionest my concerns with being hungry and not getting full most of the time, she said I may be chewing the food way to much.  it seems like everyday is a learning experience and it is never the same.  Hang in there.  You can do thiS and you are not alonE.

I am 5 months out and I am not hungry just bored and want to eat. Try and drink more water. I understand for the vets that will help. Good luck and hang in there. It will get easier the longer you stick to your Dr.'s plan. Robin
