Dumping?

Early dumping and late dumping are two very different things, and should not be confused. Whoever thought up those names did everyone a disservice.

Late dumping is not dumping at all, and shouldn't be called that. It is actually reactive hypoglycemia. What they call early dumping is true dumping, or rapid gastric emptying. It only happens with sugar. Other things may give you intestinal trouble, such as fats or sugar alcohols. But they are not dumping.

Every runny nose, sore throat, or headache are not caused by the same thing. Lots of conditions cause those symptoms. It would be medically inaccurate to call them all a cold, or flu. Every gastric upset is not dumping, either. It is a very specific cause, and reaction.
