RNY or Sleeve??...Confused
Are you in Ontario and under OHIP? If so we have a very active ON forum that you should check out... but if you are, then you would need to have back up for why you need the VSG as they tend to prefer RNY.

There are things to think about like what type of eater are you? Binge? then RNY as you have a pouch and will malasorb and perhaps dump.......same with sugar. If you are just a big eater then maybe sleeve as it restricts the amount you can eat only....diabetics usually don't require insulin after rny....that's why it's good to let your doctor know exactly what kind of eater you are....it can make a difference. And of course, you can go DS and this is a combo of both types, sort of.......
Where are you from? If you're in Ontario they generally do not give you a choice, as RNY is considered the "gold standard". If you have medical issues you *may* be able to push for a sleeve, but there's no guarantee. You may even expect to get RNY and wake up with a sleeve, the choice is up to the surgeon here.
