Whats normal????
So I had my surgery on May 12th. I've just started to really drinking a little bit. It's almost like I'm making myself drink. The last place I want to be is backin the hospital. I've noticed that I've been lighted headed. Is this normal? I've also noticed that things do taste weird to me. I can no longer drank plain cold water. it's so nasty to me. Also if I've had something the day before I don't like it anymore.
If you don't start drinking, you'll end up back in the hospital. Try hot, warm, cold, flavored, unflavored, whatever it takes.

If your lightheaded it sounds like you are already dehydrated. Get some Propel Zero and start drinking that asap

I agree with the other 2 posters. It is super easy to get dehydrated, especially right out of surgery. I was also getting very lightheaded not too long after surgery, but mine was related to my blood pressure medications. Turns out my BP normalized almost immediately after surgery! That was a happy surprise. :)
Drinking was one of the hardest things for me. It took a long while before I could get 64 oz. now I'm at least 90 - so it gets better the longer you keep plugging at i****er tasted just like dirt to me- still can't drink it plain -, I use Crystal Light.
I drank Isopure - the kool aid type thing because it's protein too. Just keep plugging at the liquids - it's very important- but it will get better the more you do it!

It gets easier, just keep trying different things and keep trying over and over. I found early out from surgery I didn't like the taste of many things. Things sweetened with artificial sweetners tasted yucky. was a sweet and low person. I bought sweet n low in bulk, now can't stand it. Crystal light lemonade was too sweet at first now I like it.
I am 6 weeks out and still. Can't stomach water, which sucks because I was a huge water drinker. It smells. And tastes like an old. Can to me. I have been drinking g2 gatorade and powerade per doctor's orders
Yes, your tastebuds change a lot. It will eventually get back to normal for the most part. That nasty taste in your mouth goes away too but not for awhile. Just force yourself to drink liquids! My tastebuds are back to normal now after almost 2 years. I do notice that foods and seasonings taste stronger to me than they used to. I don't need as much salt etc...and hot spicy things are too hot now. The most important thing for you now is to stay hydrated! Good luck!
