Feedback on MFP numbers

I've been tracking in MFP for a week now at many suggestions here because I was only counting protein and water. It's definitely helpful to make me mindful of how many calories I've had in a day.

Can I get some feedback on what my numbers have been for the last week? And what I've eaten has been pretty typical for the last 2 weeks or so since I've expanded into a few more foods.

5/8 - 575 cal, 25 carbs, 64.2 protein

5/9 - 736 cal, 31.7 carbs, 71.5 protein

5/10 -629 cal, 27.5 carbs, 70.8 protein

5/11 -641 cal, 25.2 carbs, 69 protein

5/12 - 620 cal, 25.5 carbs, 65.5 protein

5/13 - 700 cal, 32 carbs, 63 protein

5/14 - 560 cal, 21 carbs, 70 protein

At 7 weeks post op, almost 2 months, is that a good amount of calories to stay around or too many? Just looking for any feedback so I can adjust if necessary

Hi, I had surgery the day after you and this is what I'm tracking on MFP

5/8 - 411 cal, 21 carbs, 47 protein - I was having some issues getting my protein in

5-9 - 590 cal, 33 carbs, 36 protein - still working on the protein and trying to get those carbs down

5/10 - 420 cal, 15 carbs, 62 protein - now I've got it, I think!

5/11 - 575 cal, 30 carbs, 72 protein - Not sure what we should be getting in carbs, hope this is ok

5/12 - 499 cal, 11 carbs, 74 protein - looks much better

5/13 - 580 cal, 21 carbs, 78 protein - hopefully I can keep the carbs down and that protein up.

5/14 - 537 cal, 18 carbs, 74 protein - I have found if I drink a half a protein as a snack at night I am doing good on my protein.

I think your #'s look good.  My NUT said to take in 700 or less cal and 65-70 proteins.  They didn't tell me anything about carbs, sugars or fat so I try to keep them at what I think is low.  Now that being said I haven't lost any weight in a couple weeks and I'm kinda worried, but I figure I will listen to the advice of others and not worry too much. Hope your weight loss is going good!! Have a great day

Thanks - I think I need to cut about 100 calories out of most of my days. I's like to be more at where you are for calories, 600 or lower I think. I feel like I'm doing well on protein but that comes from eating more calories sometimes. This upcoming week I'm going to try to drink more of the protein at night to get it in and cut out a snack that I was using for protein, not for hunger at all.

I wasn't paying attention to carbs at all until people here told me to and I'm glad they did! Now I've been paying attention and feel like generally I'm not having too bad of a problem there either.

Are you tracking your fats and sugars?

It's in MFP so I see it but I'm not paying attention to it. I just went through and looked at those numbers for the last week and the sugar is super low since I make sure the foods I eat has little sugar since I know we can't tolerate that and the fats seem to be low too. But I don't really know what any of those numbers should be lol.

I think your calories are right on track. I was tracking on MFP at this point, and although my surgeon did not have us counting calories I was always in the 550 - 750 range. An occasional day slightly higher or lower, but this was the range. I don't think it is important to get an exact amount of calories everyday, I think to shoot for a range is better.... your body doesn't get used to one calorie count, and it gives you room to change up your daily choices. I think it is more important to aim for higher protein levels and more water. I know they say 60-80, but work on getting 80 in and 64 is the minimum of fluid, aim a little higher.

I'm always aiming for higher protein - my surgeon had given me the goal of 70 - but haven't been able to get much higher than that yet. I'm still expanding into more food so I'm hoping I can start getting more protein with actual food. But I have been getting 60-65 consistently for about a month now which I'm happy about.

Water is the one thing I never have a problem with thankfully. I gave up pop without much issue in January, I don't drink coffee and I've always liked water. It's the one good habit I have!

I still drink a some type of protein drink/shake everyday. I don't think I would ever make the protein without it. I always aim for it being 30g of protein, either from milk + powder, premier RTD protein, or even add a little unflavored if needed...

Oh these numbers are with premier RTD actually. I was making my own but I was starting to have a hard time drinking it every day so I finally just started drinking one of these a day.

I'm not planning to cut out the drinks either because I'm not a breakfast fan and the drinks are perfect for me for that and last me until lunch. And because I will never get my protein in without it it seems! Still trying to increase protein without increasing calories. I just discovered that 2 oz of shrimp is 13 grams of protein which made me very happy lol.
