Moving after surgery

I am moving to a new state, new health insurance, new job etc. about 2 1/2 months after my surgery is scheduled.  I know I will be able to ask questions once I have signed a contract with my new company, but has anyone else been in this situation? Will my new health insurance cover visits to a new surgeon's office for my check-ups?

It really depends on the policy. It will probably be treated as a pre-existing condition, and some policies have waiting periods before they will provide coverage for something classified as pre-existing. There is no way to know for sure without reviewing the actual policy.

I read something that said with the ACA the waiting period for pre existing conditions for employer sponsored group plans is no more than 90 days.

Thanks. I am definitely going to have to ask them, but have not signed a contract yet and am therefore waiting!!! It's making me anxious to not know though, trying to plan!.

Thanks to the ACA, insurance companies can no longer deny coverage for pre-existing conditions, so you should be all set.  =)

That is assuming your new insurance is covered by the ACA. Not all polices are.
