No post-op swallow test?

I did a little more investigation and found out that my surgeon only does them for his sleeve patients because of the longer staple line and the greater risk of a leak developing farther out from surgery. Guess my husband's in for a nasty smoothie!

Yeah, I guess that makes sense.  The surgeons I work for don't do it for their VSG patients, though... They just are very thorough checking before they close.

My surgeon did both.. a test while in surgery, then the swallow a week later.  He mentioned he mostly does the swallow for my benefit to show me a visual on how it all works.  He said they aren't necessary if it's done at surgery.  I appreciated being able to see my stomach in action.
