Clothes-What did you do with your "old" clothes
I gave some to friends, and the rest went to charity. I donated my business clothing to Steps to Success, an organization that helps outfit low income women who are trying to get back into the job market and don't have the money for office appropriate clothing.

I started at a 57 BMI -- so my size was a 28/30 --- I sold all my clothes in small lots on eBay by size -- just by selling my size 24 to 30 clothes I made $1700 and used it to take a fabulous trip with my husband and son -- and to buy clothes that fit.
Plus sized clothes sell really well... especially if they are Avenue, Torrid, Lane Bryant, etc. I would list 2 to 3 of one size and type -- like 3 sized 26 skirts -- and start them kind of low. I also sold all my shoes. I went from a 9 W to a 7 M --
Unfortunately, once I hit "normal" sizes (14 and lower) -- clothes don't sell nearly as well.

It was -- and while I think it's wonderful to donate your old clothes -- I was really struggling at the time to buy new sizes. It's a lot different now that I am in small sizes --- I have acquired an amazing wardrobe of designer labels for next to nothing via thrift shopping. That is definitely a part of "thin privilege" that is very unfair. I used to spend so much money just to have crappy fitting clothes that looked half-way decent -- so as I was going down and before I was in "normal" sizes -- I often bought clothes in the same way I was selling them. Thrift shopping was very frustrating until I was out of plus sizes -- because there really isn't much available and often mixed in -- etc.
Anyhow, selling my clothes was pretty liberating and helped me while I was transitioning down. Plus, we took an active cross country trip visiting national parks -- those memories will last a lifetime.

Holy crap!! I may have to try that because I have a lot of nice things from the last year or 2 that I didn't wear that much from Lane Bryant and Christopher and Banks. i just took off the tags of something to wear the other day actually. I work from home so I wear yoga pants and tanks mostly but when I do go into the office once every few months I have to have something nice. I have no idea how to sell on ebay...but I think I can figure it out lol.

It's not hard, but list just one or two things at first to build your positive feedback. It's hard to get buyers when you have none, because they are worried you will cheat them.
List for Monday or Tuesday evenings with an Pacific time (eBay is Pacific time) of 6 to 7 pm. This is what I have found prime for ending auctions. Make sure you have a PayPal account for them to pay you. Make sure that you weigh your clothes so you know how much to charge for shipping.
It's really a nice way to re-coup some money.
