Hey OH, I have a question. When is it OK to try to introduce coffee back  into the mix. I am dying for some coffee. I need a light at then end of the tunnel.

My center didn't have any rules about when to add it back in some centers ban it indefinitely.  I waited until 6 months.  The main thing to watch is the calories/content of the things you put in the coffee.

Mine doesn't want us to do any regular coffee, decaf only, due to the caffeine being a diuretic.    Watch what you put in it as stated above.  My problem is that even the decaf upset my stomach so I'm lucky to get in 2 ounces only.

the dr said Decaf, but it makes me gag. it's like my body knows the difference. I do drink one cup of reg a day since 8 weeks out. but I also try to drink 64 of pure water a day too.

My program just wants you to be getting in your water every day first. I made it a week before I started drinking black tea again, and I just started drinking espresso daily this week. I recommend trying tea first because it is not as acidic. Before surgery, coffee did not agree with me and espresso gave me terrible cravings. I have not had any problems with espresso since my surgery.

My surgeon didn't have a problem with a cup of regular coffee when I was about three weeks out.  I just enjoyed one for breakfast, and didn't pu**** any more than that, but then I'm not a coffee fanatic.

My program has told me no caffeine again-  ever.  Apparently it can cause dumping and is also a diuretic.  With that said, I'm still about a month from surgery, so those who have actual experience with this will give better answers!

Espresso,
