What do you guys think about KFC grilled chicken? God source of protein or not? Out for lunch and need some protein.

I looked at Fatsecret.com they say it has 40 grams of protein. Sodium is 30% of your daily sodium. I am just passing what I saw. Sorry I am not much help.

Grilled chicken is probably your best choice anywhere you go out to eat. I have no reason to suspect that KFC would be any different. The thing you want to watch out for is chicken that was ground up and stuck back together. There isn't much that can ruin a whole piece of grilled chicken, like you get at KFC, as long as you don't eat the skin. The only thing they might do to it is use some unhealthy cooking oil, but, even then, it's still probably going to be better than anything else the restaurant has to offer.

I'm 11 1/2 weeks out and still not approved for chicken.  My surgeon says no chicken until at least 12 week (so I'm close!).  In class we learned that chicken can be a real difficult to tolerate and some people can never eat it again.

At 2 months I was approved for dark meat turkey, or ground turkey... even then I had to take it real slow... and some days my pouch still says "no thank you" to it.  But it's getting easier.

My advice... if you're just 5 weeks out, I would wait on the chicken.  But later - yes... I think I will try the KFC grilled chicken to see how it goes.  I'll start with the dark meat, it's easier to digest.

And I'll definitely try those roasted whole chickens you get in the grocery stores... you can debone them and freeze them in small packets.  Looking forward to trying that, too.

How far out post op are you?  Some people have problems with the breast getting stuck, due to the dryness. The thigh is more moist. I was over a year out before I could eat breast, but I made sure it was moist.

Their grilled chicken is fine especially if you do a thigh. At almost 3 years out there are still times when I can't do breast as it is just too dry. Thigh meat always seems to work well for me too.

I have eaten it and been ok.  It is probably a better option than something else might be.  :)

I don't like the fact they inject the chicken with a sal****er brine.

A lot of added salt is par for the course in fast food chicken. Wendy's is one that stands out to me - when we lived in PA, there were many food industries close to us and we could shop at outlet stores. The breast filets that were sent to Wendy's, for example, were really loaded up with added sodium. Keeps them moist, yes. And may tenderize them. But it's something to watch out for.

And the original poster was away from home, it was time to eat, and she had to do something. So we make the best choices we can, and in a pinch these aren't bad. Not a daily thing, for sure.
