I'm pretty sure that I know how those bottles of Coke are being consumed -- orally. How did you think they were being consumed?

This is like sitting in a courtroom watching a trial. The defense calls three expert witnesses to prove the defendant is insane and not responsible for murdering his wife. Then the prosecution calls three expert witnesses to prove the defendant is sane and responsible for murdering his wife.
Everyone can quote a report or two or three supporting the position they have taken. It's a fact of life. Everyone thinks they have "the right answer".
That's why I don't get into discussions involving religion, politics, eating back exercise burned by exercise, and counting total carbs vs. net carbs.

I am not an intellectual type and rarely read (or really understand) studies and such.
I like simple explanations that make sense to me and apply to me.
What I have heard, in very simple terms, is that when you take a food like wheat, and process it you remove parts of the food that your body needs to utilize that food. And your body develops cravings because it isn't getting everything it needs.
So food that has been processed away from it's natural state tends to cause cravings for the parts that have been removed.
It makes sense to me and it works for me.
I don't count carbs. I don't worry about how many carbs are in a cup of yogurt or an apple because it isn't missing anything my body needs.
If I eat 100 calories I count 100 calories. I don't take anything off for activity or anything else.
If I eat something with 15 carbs I count 15 carbs (if I counted carbs). I don't factor in fiber or anything else.
It makes sense to me and it has been working in my life for going on 5 years ago. I avoid refined carbs, I don't crave them, therefore I don't eat them and I don't crave them because I don't eat them.
And the result, at least to this point, is I maintain a normal body weight without having to bank, budget, spend or save calories or carbs or whatever.
I eat lots of protein and if there is room I have some unprocessed carbs. And I am comfortable with the process and the results.
