Slim fast high protein made me nauseous...
Ughhh what a horrible feeling. 30 minutes of feeling super nauseous and feeling like at any minute I might vomit. I tried the slim fast high protein shake one time before about 3 days after surgery and I couldn't get it down, so I thought I would give it a second shot. NEVER AGAIN!! I am still nauseous and trying some ginger tea to see if that helps. I wonder why...is it because it is higher in fat than my other protein drinks? Anyone find the same results from the Slim Fast?

I think we how know why you got sick... It has nothing to do with fat... it has everything to do with SUGAR... Fat is not a four letter word... Incorporating healthy fats into your new eating regime is essential. But any type of sugar is always a....well... c**p shoot.
The time is now to become an expert at label reading--not just the chart but the ingredients. Just think of this as a lesson learned... albeit the hard way, but still a lesson learned.

The Slim Fast I had is on the protein options list for the program I am in. It is the slim fast High Protein, Protein Meal Shake. It says it only has 4 Total Carbs.. with 2 sugars... 0 sugar alcohol and 0 other carbohydrate...so are you saying there are hidden sugars in it? I am pretty good at reading labels so now I am all confused!

just because it is on your program doesn't mean it will not make you sick,or that it is even good for you. What is the carb source if there are no other carbs and no sugar alcohols. The 4 grams of carbs must be sugar and that may be enough to make you sick.
I would never drink a slim fast of any kind. Here are the guidelines my program has for protein shakes: 15g of protein or more, less than 15g of carbohydrate, 5g of fat or less, and approximately 150-200 calories. Slim fast is a scam and even their "high protein" shakes fail to come close to meeting these guidelines. Slim fast is not appropriate for RNY patients. My basic rule for any food is that you want at least 1g of protein for every 10 calories. Anything with less protein should be eaten sparingly.

This slim fast is on my programs list of protein options...it has 20 grams of protein, 4 carbs, 9 grams of fat, and 180 calories....that why I thought it was the fat maybe.
That is a slim fast shake that I have never heard of then. All of the ones I have seen are woefully low in protein. I guess I wouldn't trust them in general. But I had a protein bar once that appeared ok from the nutrition facts and ingredients other than a slightly elevated number of fat grams, and I felt awful after eating it. I suspect some way food companies have found to get around nutrition labeling. It is rather suspect because other foods with fat in them have not made me feel that way.
