How do I know if my sleep apnea is cured?
Thanks for the feedback! Finding a new Dr is not super simple in a small town. Most of my doctors are far away and not covered by my insurance because of that and because of that my medical bills are pretty high. Plus RNY wasn't covered sooo this year will end up being insanely expensive obviously.
But I didn't realize that the sleep apnea doesn't seem to get better for a while so maybe by that time we will have saved more money for medical expenses and I will go see a new Dr. I'll consider it.

WLS did not cure me of sleep apnea. In my readings it was 20% still needed it. What is encouraging is that you haven't needed it for long. PLEASE do not stop your Cpap without a doctor's appointment. It's usually at home test and it's easy. You also need to wait until you are down around goal weight.
Guess what? You don't have to tolerate asshole doctors. I too see a million doctors. I just won't tolerate it. I stand up for myself and tell anyone right out that they are being inappropriate. If it ends up that this is your doctor..or better yet just do it anyway...write this doctor a letter telling him about your experience. Send a copy to the medical/hospital company he works for. Doctors DO NOT get to treat you like ****! You need to ask how HE is going to remedy this situation since HE is endangering your health.

Another sleep study (or at least a home sleep test, or at the VERY least an overnight pulse oximetry) is the only way to know. You don't need to go back to the same doctor. Plenty of primary care docs are even comfortable ordering sleep studies instead of referring to sleep specialists. Then the sleep doc would just interpret the study and send the results to your PCP.
