9 Years out..where do I begin/ again?

First of all, let me encourage you by telling you that I lost a 45 pound re-gain, plus more by doing what you are suggesting -- using my tool again.  The tool still works!  The first step for me was getting back to a support group.  I also saw a dietician who works with my surgeon's office, and I tackled the emotional/spiritual aspects of compulsive overeating by looking into Overeaters Anonymous.  It takes commitment and consistent work, but we really do have an awesome tool.  You may want to review where you have learned to work around it.  Are you eating and drinking at the same time? Drinking enough water? Grazing?  Have things like chips and desserts crept back into your food plan?  Are you eating 6 small meals a day?  Are your portions within your surgeon's boundaries? (Mine are 3/4 to 1 c. food per meal)  I found it impossible to tackle everything at once, but seemed to have found what works for me.  You have to do that for you, because you're worth it!!!  Figure out a reasonable Plan of Eating, and then if you have difficulty sticking with it, figure out why and what you can do to work on it.  Use whatever resources you have available to you, which may include counseling, a dietician, your surgeon's office, WLS support group and Overeaters Anonymous.  Remember it's a marathon and not a sprint.  I'd say it took me about 6-7 months to lose my re-gain, but I learned a lot along the way.  Oh, I forgot to mention exercise, because that's one of the areas I don't really do well in, although some people believe it is a key to success.

thank you for the encouragement! I love the idea of looking into overeaters anonymous.  I'm going to do just that!

Excellent answers here.  I need to read these instructions daily.  I've had some regain but I'm working on taking it off.  You don't sound silly at all.  Many, many people have regain.  Take the suggestions posted here and run with them.

You can do it.  It helps to read posts and participate here too.  Keeps it fresh in your mind.

Excellent post Rocky. All I can add is really up the excersize. I maintain by riding my bike for at least an hour a day. Find an excersize you like and go for it. You can so do this.
