I will be 54 years ols next month and had RNY 2-18-15. I went back to work as an RN after just 2 weeks. I work midnight shift and after work would go baby sit my 3 preschool age grandchildren for 4 hours before going home. Week three I was not only doing all of this but was also stopping at the gym to walk 2 miles on the treadmill before going home to shower, eat something and go to bed. I was up again by 5:00 to feed my husband, daughter and myself but would go back to bed until I had to get ready for work. Somedays I was tired but it was never too bad. I think it's all individual and how much stamina you had before surgery.

I am a paralegal to a desk job as well. I had surgery on 12/2 (Tuesday) and went back to work on 12/12. Only made it through a half day and left crying. Went back the next day (Saturday so no one there) armed with my pain meds. Made it through 4 hours, with some medicine needed. The next day (Sunday) went back again and could do 5 hours without medicine. By Monday I was back fulltime. If your able to go in when no one is there I think it helped me to kind of work back to it without the pressure of the office being open.

I took 5 weeks off due to being sent home with a feeding tube.  My surgeon keeps the feeding tube in for 4 weeks and I could not return to wor****il he took it out.  With all the changes in hormones and diet, I really needed that time to adjust.
