Good day all.  I am here in the States for a few days and because I drove I brought a cooler with me to stock up on things I can not get in Canada.  I am 7months out from my RNY and looking for different things to taste try eat....anything from protein bars to yogurts to snack foods....what are some of your faves to have....I will know what I can get up north and through on line but I was hoping to fill the car up to since I am down here.

Thanks so so much for your time reading this and have a great day! Cheers!

I'm not familiar with Canadian grocery choices, but if you see a Trader Joe's, GO IN THERE!!!  I really like their Vit B Complex tabs because they are great interlingual tabs that melt very quickly, but there's a ton of other great foods at that store.

yes Trader Joes is pretty awesome... I use their sublingual B-12. I don't know if you can buy frozen food, but their stuff is good. Crab stuffed flounder in individual portions. Can't think off hand, but you could have fun there.

If you go to the Walmart SuperCentre, you can get Pure Protein Chocolate Salted caramel Protein Bars, Danone Light and Fit yogurt in really yummy flavours (salted caramel, caramel macciato, toasted coconut - to die for, chocolate raspberry truffle and many more), Blue Diamond Butter Toffee almonds (low carb), and other great flavours of almonds, small Minute Maid water flavourings that fit really well in your purse.   Walmart usually has a good variety of sugar free pastries that freeze well for a special occasion.  When I go to Niagara Falls NY for a day, I hit the Walmart first because the US Walmarts have much more than the Canadian ones.  I have also purchased protein powders and bars and cookies at The Vitamin Shoppe.

CC, your shopping trips sounds relish. I've seen the salted caramel bars at Walmart lately in Canada. The super centre at the boardwalk have them all the time. I've yet to try them though. I still have a bunch that i haven't eaten in the house.

Thanks for the info NewMe, I will be making a trip to the Boardwalk.  Those bars are great tasting and good to have in my purse for when I'm done exercising or long trips in the car.

Some of my favorites:

At GNC or Whole Foods - get Quest Protein Bars. Check the label - the original flavors do NOT have sugar alcohols but the newer formulations do. Under 200 cal., 20 gm protein, high fiber, and all clean ingredients.

Browse Whole Foods in general - what a treat!

Trader Joes - olive oil at a great price. Healthy 8 chopped veggies (fresh) makes a terrific stir fry.

Premier Protein shakes (ready to drink) at Costco if you know anyone with a membership.
