My surgery was on Feb 2nd, so I am 2-3 weeks away from being 3 months out.  I have not been hungry but I have had cravings.. Today I would really like to try steak, but I am unsure if I should or not.  When did you try steak and is it better well done or medium for your pouch?

I had it at 8 weeks, as soon as I was cleared for all foods. Steak actually went down easier than ground beef or chicken for quite a while.

Moist is better than dry, so less well done is better. For a few months I stuck to just beef tenderloin, a.k.a. filet  mignon. It is the most tender cut, and very lean. Take it slow, and chew really well.

I think I was around 4 months when I tried it. Pre-surgery I only ate it well done but post I have to have it medium well. The best advice I heard was to chew it really well-so far I haven't had any issues and have turned into a carnivore for sure!

I had steak for the first time at three months out. Now I do best with medium steak. Well done is just too dry but as long as it is moist I have no problem with it. I have been known to send it back at a restaurant if it is cooked beyond medium.

Thanks everyone.  I think I will try it medium and hopefully I will do well.

I had it at about 3 weeks out, and like Grim it was one of the easier things for me to eat in the beginning. Cut it small and chew well. Definetly not well done... you don't want anything dried out

t just goes to show how everyone is different! The only food that I have had a problem with is steak at around 6 weeks. I had bad nausea for about two hours after eating only a little bit. I haven't tried it since!
